How it works

How ownership works

Cuprum Assets is direct ownership of a specific, individualised lot of refined copper — not a financial instrument or a structured product. You own the metal throughout and carry its price.

  1. 1

    Place a binding order

You place a binding order and pay. ALCUM sources the copper — buying refined metal directly, or buying scrap and refining it.

  2. 2

The lot is allocated to you

The refined copper is individualised to you and a warehouse receipt is issued. From that point you own the specific lot and bear its price risk — there is no hedge.

  3. 3

    Hold or take delivery

You can hold the metal against an annual storage fee, or take physical delivery of your lot, subject to the governing agreements.

  4. 4

    Sell and receive proceeds

On your sell instruction, ALCUM arranges the sale and remits the net proceeds — the sale price less purchase cost, commission, transport and storage.

Key risks

What you are — and are not — exposed to

Cuprum Assets is unhedged: you carry the full copper price movement, up and down. The metal is held under ALCUM’s legal ownership framework and independently inspected, but realised value depends on the price at which your lot is ultimately sold.

  • Copper price risk is borne in full by the investor — there is no product-level hedge.
  • Custody, storage and logistics risk on the physical lot.
  • Liquidity depends on arranging a sale; realisation is at the achievable market price.
  • Jurisdiction restrictions and KYC onboarding apply; access follows the governing agreements.

A blockchain version of Cuprum Assets is planned. Storage-fee basis and full terms are subject to the Purchase and Custody Agreements.
